Letters From Praha

Oi, today was a long one, but it's finally feeling like I live here. As I've said a lot of that has to do with my room switch. Not being cooped up with the apathetic will usually illicit such a response. The E-mail from home was good. Keep it coming guys, and let me tell you, everyone at Sally Maie should be hit by a tram! (Ring.. Ring.. Slam-O!) Here's how things went 3-4 months ago "Hello, how can I help you?" "Um, yes I have a loan out, and I'll need to defer it, as I'm going back to school." "Well your school should be able to make the proper arrangements." "Well, um, I don't think so, you see it's in Prague, you know Prague Czech Republic." "Oh no sir, that won't be any trouble at all, they will handle everything for you." BALLS! they haven't handled JACK!, if your reading this and you are considering getting a loan for education, go to some one else!

In other news today I spent an insane amount of time at the laundromat. I decided that after several weeks it was time to wash my jeans. (hey Bob,... "Stinky"....) It was a cold day here, got down to zero last night, so this morning I decided that I needed my long johns. That and the fog was really nasty like you wouldn't believe, but I didn't hear of anyone getting run over by a tram today. Tomorrow I'll be getting back my first test, so the proof will be in the pudding as to how well I'm learning things here. Friday I've another test too, so I'm going to have to get in some study time. I ended up taking a nap today after I found out that my second class of the day was canceled and that I'd have another hour and a half to my gap. So I came home and fell asleep to the Choir music I brought. Then Martin called, he had an appointment at the KU today. Sounds like that went well for him. He had forgotten the number of his contact person, and was calling to get it, however I couldn't find his book. He found it anyway so everything worked out. Praha is finally feeling like a place to live. It's a city that's well worn, and so like your favorite clothes, some sweater that was handed down to you by a cousin, of something like that. So it looks worn in, but once you figure this out it's really a comfortable place to live. And after a day on my own, dealing in broken Czech, and walking around town it feels like I live here. Jitka was pleased to help mom, I forgot to mention that. She's good, she looks after us here. No new attacks this weekend, it seems that we're in the right place at the right time. I've not seen any isolated violence here, however a few of us have. So were looking out for each other more these days. We figure it's the winter pre-games, people are just starting to get grumpy that the days are getting short and that the weather is getting cold. We get it at home to. Schultzies, the Milltown, and Rock-n-Docks(jock's) all have spectacular bar brawls in the winter months. But these were totally random acts against individuals, so like I said we're looking out for each other more these days. Tomorrow I think I'll be back in the cemetery, collecting data on some stones. A survey level demographics project. 50-100 stones looking at date of death, and age, to take in to comparison to the averages at home for similar years. Maybe get into a few books on society, and medicine as well.
