Letters From Praha

Ok it was time to take a break from my homework anyway. So how do you like the new look here, that and the new features? I'm not sure if they are all working yet but I'll keep on trying, and see what I can come up with. I remembered I had the chat thing in the hard drive this morning, but I may replace it with a interactive messaging board, as that would make more sense. Then this place would at least be a little more functional. All right, as you can see, it's getting to be that time of the year. What holidays, I'm talking about sharpening the skates and getting your stick on the ice. Yes, with the weather getting colder here at night, the local pond has come under careful observation. One of the real bummers here is that we can not watch our favorite NHL teams from back home. They just don't have the rights to show them here. But that's not stopping us! Oh no, were looking, even though we are almost 100% sure not to find a game on any television in this country, we are still looking! It's not a total loss, we can get scores. Internet and even the papers here carry the scores, so we can follow that's happening, but it's not like hockey night back home.

They Serve Non Alcoholic Beer!

So Be Sure To Get Loaded Before You Go!

They have their own leagues here also, which we watch. Sparta being the favorite, HC SPARTA ice hockey at the Peagus Arena. It's a good time but they just don't know how to play like we're use to. It's like watching a college game, they don't hit each other! I mean there is checking, but it's nothing like home, and there is no fighting! Also they seem to like to play with the puck more than we do too, rather than shooting. But it's still that good old hockey game, so we'll keep on going. Then there is also the matter of the pond that I mentioned earlier. You see we are going to have to wait out the freezing weather, so in-between we've been going to the local fotbal games too. You see Praha, and the Sparta club also has AC SPARTA the soccer club! So it's Sparta all around for us. We've been playing in the park too, a little soccer that is. But as I said it's starting to get cold, and well have to give it up when it really hits, and just have to wait out the pond's freezing over. As you can see I've managed to find the league patches for both Sparta teams to co-exist along with the home NHL teams of choice. The Gambrinus Liga decal is the soccer league that they all belong to here in CZ. Sparta is also part of the Champions league, and so, to the best we can reckon, that is why the NA beer. A dirty dirty joke, but we think it was a necessary concession to make to enter the league. The funny part being that Gambrinus is an old, old beer here, it's what they sell everywhere. So you can imagen getting to a soccer game and getting a beer, and getting that!

The evening sky is very pretty tonight as I look out from my desk. I'm still in a western room, so I get to look away from Praha. I know that I said I was going on a field trip today, but I reconsidered it. It is a three hour bus ride, to spend a few hours in a place that deserves much more. So a few of us decided to go and do it on our own some weekend. Actually spend the time it deserves, rather than risk through it. So I'm sorry, but no pic's of the great and old castle this time. I've still got to sit down and build a pic page up for Praha! I'm thinking that I'll rotate the pic's on this sight so that I can get more on to it, but this in tern will mean that you have to take them from this sight if you like them. Because they aren't going to be archived here. I think I'll try to get up some of Praha in general, perhaps the graveyard, and maybe some of us screwing around here at the Krystal too. Halloween is coming up too, and that means mischief. They don't have the holiday here in the CZ Rep. So we'll have to show them what it's all about. I don't really have a costume this year, so perhaps I'll just go as a nudist! Hard to say at this point. Dinner tonight was much less than exciting.Had some instantni S játrovými Knedlícky. Basically some broth with a little dehydrated dough balls in it. Not bad, but the Ramen is cheaper and more filling anyway! Bought some sauerkraut and hot-dogs, Martin and I both like that dish, so maybe this weekend or something. Well Sparta is playing Arsenal tonight, so I've got to get back to the books so that I can watch the game. It's in London tonight, or we'd be at the stadium for sure. The last time Arsenal was here though they had riot cops everywhere just for the game! And that's why you can't get real beer in the stands.

Love ya all,
